Surely I am not the first person to be somewhat disturbed the contrasting attention awarded to the McCann family and the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine, and the case of Shannon Matthews, the missing school girl from Dewsbury.

The McCann's had month after month of coverage, Shannon has fallen of the radar after a few weeks.

My God, the audacity of the media to decide who is worthy and who is not. Who says class distinctions no longer exist?
