A couple of days ago I posted on “Metronet”, the company charged with privatising the London Underground, but who recently went under with public liability debts of millions. As the Private Eye points out, part of the Metronet consortium who got things so spectacularly wrong were Balfour Beatty, WS Atkins and EDF Energy.
Balfour Beatty are front runners in the bid to build South Tyneside’s new incinerator, WS Atkins are building the Olympic park and Aquatic centre (already over budget) and EDF are Gordon Browns favourite to build his new range of nuclear power stations. It’s nice to know that such important projects are in safe business hands!
