Who can forget the NHS National Programme for IT, a system that was designed to revolutionise the central collection of personal data. The body running the system, Connecting for Health, has to date failed to deliver on promises it made five years ago, and has been forced to “reset” the central database i.e. it crashed.
The core suppliers who have failed to deliver are Accenture, CSC, Fujitsu and BT. Guess who is on the short list to supply ID cards….. Accenture, CSC and Fujitsu. Also included was EDS, which was so poor it was booted off the NHS IT programme.
