Fanfare for the Common Man

With 4 continuous days of media frenzy over Prince Harry’s return from the Afghan theatre of war, I have now become sickened to the point where I can no longer watch the news.

I often wonder what the wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children etc, of soldiers who have died in both Iran and Afghanistan think of the hour upon hour of TV coverage, especially when their own loved ones in many cases were only awarded 2 minutes of national coverage for giving their lives in the name of their country.

Perhaps we should all be ashamed, as we only get the media we deserve.

However, when Harry returns to Britain today, I wonder what the reception will be? I suspect it will be slightly more glorious than coming home in a casket.

Never in the field of human conflict has so much fuss been made by so many over so little.
