TO MUCH DRINK

Whilst the first Gazette of the New Year is always a tame affair, today’s edition supports a worrying trend. New Years drunken activities have separately led to one man being stabbed, another knocked twenty feet in the air and a third in hospital with a broken jaw( and these are only the incidents which have been reported on). How much of this is related to 24 hour drinking hours is unknown, but when the police figures emerge over the next few months we may be able to spot a trend.

Hopefully, these types of incidents will not be the order of the day for 2008, but with more and more pubs staying open longer and longer in order to compete amongst themselves, I suspect not.
